well...i'm almost done surviving a little less than a week without my honey. he's on a business trip, coming back tomorrow. not that bad at all. got a lot done. i'm laggin' on the job hunt thing though. i've only sent out one official resume, and it ain't all that hopeful looking. we'll see though...

and in response to george's comment about HK fashion...uh-uh. puhleeez somebody shoot me if i ever start dressing like them! some of it is cute...but what you see most people wearing on the streets....cute on them (sometimes), ick on me (all the time).

i went to the gym today for the first time in HK. it's called "california fitness". kinda ironic, huh? but, the point is...yay for me! i've been walking a heck of a lot. up and down hills and stairs, everyday. and i've been eating very little, which is weird. dont get me wrong, the food here is great! whenever i ask someone who's leaving HK what they're gonna miss most...they say the food. and trust me, it's damn good. but yah. walking, the gym, eating less, before you know it, i'm gonna be a twiggy little asian girl. HA. seriously...my goal is just to be able to fit into their XL clothes. one can only wish...

do we have to move???

so my main activities the past couple days have been apartment hunting, and here's the deal. we're moving becuz A. this place is too expensive for the two of us and B. we wanna be in a more convenient location.

we live in midlevels. most everything to do (work, subway, eat, shop, etc) is in central. to get from central (bottom of the hill) to midlevels (top of the hill), you take this escalator (yes, im too lazy to take my own picture, so i linked someone else's. click here and scroll down if that link that doesnt work). it's a long ways. longest escalator in the world in fact. in the morning it goes down so that people can get to work. after 10am, it goes up, so people can get home. smart, huh? currently, we live exactly at the very tippy top of this escalator. to get to anything besides a 7-11, we have to down 9 sets of these escalators plus a few stairs and walkways. even the 7-11 is down 2 or 3 sets down. it's a bit of a pain. but anything farther down on than 9 escalators down is way too noisy. so that's where i've been looking...at that 9th escalator.

problem is...that street has some old ass buildings and dinky rooms! makes me appreciate the place we have now soooo much more. main thing im concerned about is the kitchen. i saw this one kitchen today where i couldnt even spread my arms out to my sides without hitting the walls. i can deal with the size...but at least give me a real stove instead of a wobbly portable plugin one, please. there was one place that i like, a lot. but of course, it's way over our budget. i have an appointment with a different realtor tomorrow, hopefully he'll have something better to show me...

by the way...those stairs and hills are a great workout =)

it stopped raining, yay!

i think im gonna go apartment hunting today. i checked out the neighborhood that we're interested in yesterday. it's near lots of schools, so there are lotsa girls walking around in school girl outfits (more incentive to visit guys!).

i dont think ill feel fully settled in until we've moved, gotten situated, and until ive found a freakin' job. then it'll feel like i'm "living" here. it still hasnt hit me that i'm actually living here. so apartment hunting is number one on my list of things to do since it'll be easier to to this without a job and a little less overwhelming. im still open to career suggestions by the way. i've been reading career descriptions and im thinking that nothing sounds particularly interesting. maybe i won't change careers...

so im here in HONG KONG! yipppppeeeeee!!!!

i havent posted pictures yet and will eventually, but wanted to update everyone on what's been going on out here.

let me just begin by telling ya'll what a wonderful boyfriend i have. he picks me up from the airport early ass in the morning. he takes the day off. he's got EVERYTHING set up for me, down to the little "welcome to hong kong nancy" message when i turned on my brand new phone and he even has the numbers all set up with people to hang out with and the numbers to my favorite restaurants :) super sweet.

then, to top it all off...he surprises me late that first nite, telling me to pack my bags because we're leaving for cebu, philippines the next morning! this is where we stayed. how freakin' nice is that?!?!?! it was great. we spent 4 days there just chillin'. it was great.

so, i havent really been in HK because we got back really late sunday nite. yesterday was my first day here. jennie, who's visiting and crashing with us until tomorrow took me out yesterday. showed me the cheap places to shop and eat. she's hooking me up with a ton of job contacts. today, i'm mostly on my own, but i have plenty of errands to run and things to take care of. things are going good. still settling in. it's been raining like crazy, so on my list of things to do today is to buy an umberella :) and that's the general jist of what life has been like for me so far in asia. far from normal, but definitely nice.

i miss you guys. hope all is going well and you guys dont miss me TOO much. email me with your mailing addresses and one of these days, ill start writing hand-written letters becuase those are always nice to get. and feel free to visit!
